A sad day

Friends I am sad to say that Stickman Coffee has closed it's doors. The simple reason is not enough coming in and to much going out. The reasons for this are many and varied. Much of this was my own mismanagement some to location some do to the economy and some I may never know. I have enjoyed my time at Stickman and will miss it a lot. I thank everyone who supported us and enjoyed our coffee and told their friends about us. I will regroup and eventually try again. Roasting and serving great coffee in a great environment is what I like to do. I learned a lot during this time and can hopefully do better next time. I will keep you posted on what I am doing in the near future.

Thanks

Dismas

Stickman Coffee in Seattle Metropolitan magazine

Stickman Coffee gets some nice press in the November issue of Seattle Metropolitan Magazine. If you get a chance pick it up. It is short but it makes me look smarter than I really am.

Stickman in the Seattle Weekly

In the recent Seattle Weekly Stickman Coffee was named "Best Place to Wake & Bake". I must say I found it rather amusing and in the words of my barista Joe Stormer "Pastry sales are going to go through the roof!"

Stickman Coffee & the Solstice Parade

This weekend June 21st is the Fremont Solstice Parade and Fremont Fair. I am very excited and also very scared. While Stickman Coffee has made a name for itself especially among espresso lovers we still have yet to reach the general public. Sometimes I wonder if the general public can appreciate what Stickman and other companies like us are trying to do. That is until I see a unsuspecting customers eyes light up as they taste one of our drinks. I realize that not everyone will appreciate or like our coffee and that is fine but, from experience at Hotwire Online Coffee house and Zoka Coffee Roaster and Tea Co. that with perseverance people will go out of their way for good coffee. Many people have asked me why I would open another coffee house in Fremont especially one that is hidden and right behind another coffee house. Well my answer is that I wanted a coffee house in Fremont that I would go to and people like me. One where the coffee matters. Now I know I still have some work to do but, the impact in Fremont is already being felt. I don't say that Stickman Coffee has the best coffee in Seattle or even Fremont but, there are a growing number of people who tell me that all the time. So, I say all this to say that this weekend is our chance to reach the masses. I hope I don't blow it. I again thank everyone who supports Stickman Coffee and I thank my awesome barista's who rock and are dedicated to making awesome drinks.

What's new

Well for one thing I am really tired I need a day off. We now accept credit cards and we have more seating. People are loving the coffee. Many straight espresso and macchiato drinkers have found us and have become regulars and that makes me happy being a straight espresso drinker myself. We also have a growing number of people that come in regularly for coffee from our clover machine. Yes I know that they were recently acquired and it doesn't really bother me as long as I can get parts for it and find some to service it. I thank everyone who has supported Stickman and hopefully we will continue to grow and people will discover the love of good coffee.

Workin at the Stickman

It is time that I hire another employee and possibly two. What am I looking for in a employee? Well they need to like coffee if not don't even bother. On top of that they should like my coffee that is coffee we use here at Stickman. Two you need to like people. I like people who aren't afraid to work hard. No whiners please. Experience as barista is not necessary but bar tending, waitressing or high volume stressful retail experience is a definite bonus. Not that we are high volume yet and hopefully never stressful. If you or someone you love (or maybe you don't love) would fit the bill then bring your resume down to Stickman Coffee. I will probably hire some right away then another in a few weeks and as summer approaches another person or two depending on my needs.

Good times

The good times keep rolling at Stickman Coffee. People are raving about Borogove Coffee which is the coffee we use here at Stickman. So far only positive reviews. It gives me hope in the human race to see people who appreciate substance over size and who see the value in a product that is made with love and care. We will try to always provide the best product possible . Thank you everyone who has written incredible review and are telling your friends about us. It is truly humbling to see the response that we have gotten from you. I thank my barista Joe (I decided to leave out the Joe makes some mean joe jokes) he is doing a great job. Coffee for the people.

The Way to Stickman Coffee

If you seek to find Stickman Coffee "you seek a great fortune, you three who are now in chains. You will find a fortune, though it will not be the one you seek. But first... first you must travel a long and difficult road, a road fraught with peril. Mm-hmm. You shall see thangs, wonderful to tell. You shall see a... a cow... on the roof of a cotton house, ha. And, oh, so many startlements. I cannot tell you how long this road shall be, but fear not the obstacles in your path, for fate has vouchsafed your reward. Though the road may wind, yea, your hearts grow weary, still shall ye follow them, even unto your salvation."

Espresso and more

Even tho it still pretty slow most of the time I am enjoying running Stickman. More people are starting to find me and I mean that literally seeing as how I am hidden off the main road and my entrance is in alley. There are a number of straight espresso drinkers (thanks Derek for the review on yelp and I agree my signs are a little cheesy) which always makes me wonder when I get a first time customer that orders straight espresso either they are very brave or they heard of me ahead of time.
Yes, I do have WI-FI and bagels and donuts.

Inside joke

In May of 2002 I won the North American Barista Championship. The interesting fact is that 2002 was the only year they had a NABC because the next year the name was changed to the US Barista Championship (USBC). Whoever picked the NABC name didn't realize I guess that North America includes Canada and Mexico. So suffice it to say I am the reigning NABC Champion which is why if you come into Stickman my signs say home of the North American Barista Champion. I also must say that this is a heavy burden to bear but, I will do my duty and bear it gladly.

Stickman Coffee hidden in the center of the universe

Stickman Coffee had it's soft opening shortly after Thanksgiving. It has been a slow start but, the reviews have been good. Had one review on yelp.
If you want some of the best espresso around and some awesome clover coffee come on by and you won't be disappointed.
We are using Borogove Coffee.
